Hogs raised by a small family farm in a natural environment produce a better-quality meat product consisting of marbled, full-flavored pork. As our hogs roam the forest, they can consume acorns, hickory nuts, black walnuts, wild persimmons, forest brush, and roots. They have the opportunity to bask in the sun and wallow in the mud, allowing our pigs to live a life as close to nature as possible.

We began farming to provide a clean food source for our family. However, it has morphed into something more significant. Acorn Creek Farmstead is now known as a teaching farm that feeds the community and has become a refuge for those seeking food freedom. The farm offers clean meat options, pasture-raised eggs, raw milk shares, jams, jellies, pickled items, ferments, and a seasonal CSA box.

In addition, the farm offers others the opportunity to purchase and raise feeder pigs, ducks, laying hens, and Belfair cows on their homestead. Justin and Ann believe in empowering others by offering hands-on workshops teaching traditional life skills to those seeking to live more sustainably.

Forest Raised Hog Share

Pigs are essential members of any small family farm or homestead by consuming any food waste created. In addition, they work diligently to clear the land, till the garden, and produce offspring which feed you. Because not everyone is equipped or ready to raise pigs for meat, we are happy to do this for you! Providing you with a clean food source is essential to good health.

Raised on a nonGMO Whole Grain Feed

Our farm is committed to raising our hogs on whole grain nonGMO feed provided by a local family farm in Middle Tennessee. As a small family farm, we take what and how we feed our forest-raised pigs seriously. For example, the grains are soaked for 12 hours in milk, clabber, or whey from our Jersey dairy cows, increasing the nutritional value of the grains and producing a healthier, better-flavored hog.

In addition, our herd roams the forest areas on our farm, clearing the land and consuming plant matter, roots, acorns, hickory nuts, black walnuts, and wild persimmons.

Pricing and Butchering Cost

As a small family farm, we strive to provide you with the healthiest, best-tasting, and humanely raised meat possible. Our job is to raise the hogs; however, it is the butcher’s job to package them for your freezer.

When selecting your hog, please choose from one of the three buying options:

Reserve a Half or Whole Hog

Reservations will open when one of Acorn Creek Farmstead’s sow farrows. We will share the availability through our newsletter and social media platforms at this time. So that you know, returning customers will receive the option to secure their share before opening the share options to the public.

Joining the waitlist will guarantee you will receive the first choice of whether you wish to purchase a share.

We will transport your share to our butcher as part of your package. The buyer is responsible for the cost of processing their share and for picking up the processed and packaged meat from the processor.

Purchase a Half or Whole Hog:

Please join the waitlist for those interested in purchasing Acorn Creek Farmstead’s forested hog share. Families on the waiting list can reserve their shares before we open shares to the general public.

  • Pigs will be sent to the butcher 180 days from the day they are born. The average weight when they go to the processor will range between 250 to 350 pounds.
  • Hogs are sold at $3.75 a pound based on their live weight.
  • A deposit is required to reserve your pig. The deposit will be applied to the balance of your purchase.
  • To reserve your hog, select the appropriate deposit amount ($100 half/ $200 whole). Also, please note, your deposit is non-refundable. The final invoice for the balance of your hog will be sent via email or text the day it heads to the processor. Invoices are due upon receipt.
  • The butcher will provide Acorn Creek Farmstead with the live weight within 24 hours of the hogs arriving at the processor.
  • The buyer is responsible for paying the processor the butchering cost at pick-up time.

Purchase Feeder Hogs

Piglets are available for those interested in raising their hogs. Please note that piglets are sold in pairs to keep boredom at bay, allowing them to be better behaved. That said, we will sell one piglet to those who are experienced in raising hogs.

Piglets will be ready to head to their new homesteads once they are weaned at eight weeks of age. As a service from our farm, all boars will be cut prior to leaving our farm. A non-refundable $75.00 deposit is required to reserve your feeder pigs, which are sold for $150 per piglet.

From our pasture to your table, we thank you for choosing a clean, humanely raised meat source raised by our small family farm.
