The opportunity to consume raw milk should not be denied to anyone. Fresh raw milk in its natural form is packed with vitamins and minerals, healthy fats, and minerals. Not to mention, the cream, which comes from a family milk cow, is delicious. Grab a glass of ice-cold raw milk, and let’s toast small family farms offering herd shares to those without dairy cows.
The desire to consume raw milk and reap the benefits it offers is on the rise. However, Tennessee considers the sale of raw, unpasteurized milk to be illegal. With that said, the state allows:
We are excited to offer a raw milk herd share at Acorn Creek Farmstead for those who do not raise their dairy cow.
Raw Milk Herd Share
We currently have two beautiful Jersey milk cows on the farm, Rosemary and Eloise. Rosemary is an a2 milk cow, and Eloise is an a1. We do not separate the two types of milk, though if you want to consume only a2 milk, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Herd Share Fees (a one-time fee to join and become a herd share member)
The herd share fee covers the member’s portion of feed, housing, and daily care of our incredible Jersey cows.
- 1/2 gallon herd share – $25
- 1-gallon herd share – $50
- 1 1/2 gallon herd share – $75
- 2-gallon herd share – $100
Weekly Milk Pick-up (meet-up locations)
A one-time jar fee of $4 (per jar) will be added to all new herd share members. This fee can be waived if the herd share member provides the appropriate 1/2-gallon jars based on their committed share amount.

New product coming in 2024
We are very excited to share that beginning in January of 2024, milk share members and CSA members will have the opportunity to purchase by-products of the main product! Acorn Creek will offer share members raw milk yogurt, cultured buttermilk, butter, and cream. Stay updated with what the farm offers by joining our email list.
Milk Jars and Lids
We use 1/2 gallon mason jars with leakproof, BPA-free plastic lids. It is essential to return washed jars and lids weekly to avoid additional jar deposits. Please note the jars remain with us at the completion or termination of your raw milk herd share.
Your weekly commitment
Each week, you receive a specific portion of our dairy herd’s milk. There may come a time when you will need more than your allocated share amount, and that’s okay! Send your request via email, and we will try to accommodate your request as best as possible.
We also understand that circumstances change, and you may need to decrease your weekly amount. If this should happen, please reach out to us, and we will gladly help in any way we can.

- Columbia pick-up every Friday at Marcy Jo’s at 8:30 am or 3:30 pm
- Hohenwalk pick-up every Tuesday at 11:30 am, Walmart parking lot
Herd share members will be notified through email of the date and time once the contract has been signed and returned to us.
Payment
Reserve your raw milk herd share membership by paying the deposit amount shared above and returning the milk share contract.
Your weekly share can be paid in advance or during pick-up through Venmo, Cash, or check.

Head to the farm to pick up raw milk, pasture-raised chickens, pasture-raised holiday turkey, forest/pasture-raised pork, and eggs from free-range hens.
